Odyssey of Life

Journey that shares spiritual lessons and experiences, just out of joy of sharing.

A strong jolt and Satya woke up again. It felt like waking up from a painful dream, or Ma would call it one more birth, in some remote alien world. Same sensory temptations, same temporary experiences, same unending search of eternal infinite peace. He found himself back at the door, tired and exhausted, but something was different this time.

On the surface, he was experiencing pangs of separation from his mother, something deep within him was strangely calm and filled with firm optimism. Doors of his home were emanating a sense of peace and serenity. He was glad to be at these doors, despite finding them closed again. This time, he neither wandered around nor got lost.

A faint smile appeared on his tired face. He thought – “It is She who led me here, back home, how can she not open it now? It just a matter of time, she will open it soon. Yes, she will. She must”. A calming peace sprinkled with fragrant hope rejuvenated him. A radiant glow of love and faith twinkled in his tired eyes.

There was a no more a cry of despair. Instead, there was a prayer full of joy. This time, he called her with joy, love, hope and reverence. With a wide, bright and glittering smile, he called out to her “Ma, I am home Ma. I am done playing in those worlds, been through various experiences, learned all lessons. I know you are there with me now, and you were with me then. At every step of the way, every birth, every situation, every experience, teaching me, nudging me towards home. Now I know your Maya. Open the doors. Pick me up in your arms Ma. Don’t make me wait any longer.”

Then came the moment. With gentle creak, doors moved. With great effort and even greater hope Satya raised his head. Plethora of emotions danced through his heart, fighting amongst themselves as which one will manifest itself, not one could win. Finally, they all choose to manifest as tears, tears of joy, relief and pure love. He was looking at his mother. His teary eyes were drinking her blurry vision, quenching the eternal thirst of her sight.

Her soft and radiant glow was putting rising Sun and full moon to shame. Her sweet, calming and welcoming smile took away all his sickness, pain and fear. All that was left was a joy, childlike joy, urging him to rush to her. Her silky white complexion was like a swan bathed in a pure milk. Her pink smiling lips were curved like lotus petals, partly covering her glittering teeth like that of pomegranate seeds. Glitter of her jewels were trying hard but couldn’t outshine glitter of her smiling eyes oozing with love. Fragrance of her body was like a roses and lotuses, dipped in milk. Gentle calm breeze was playing with her dark, soft, long and curly hairs. Her glittering white sari was like spongy white clouds trying to hide glitter of stars.

“Here is my mother” – his thoughts revived. Lips could manage to speak while smiling, words barely came – “Ma”. His arms tried to reach out to touch her feet. She smiled at his futile, but love filled attempt and accepted him with a smiling nod. With long exhalation, Satya let everything go. He closed his eyes, rested his head at her feet. Those cool delicate hands gently lifted him up, and he suddenly felt light and small, a 5-yr old toddler, resting his head on his mother’s shoulder, drifting away to sleep. A long and peaceful sleep. Finally, he was home.
